This series of multimedia artworks explore a mysterious journey through a forest in flux — from the ancient past to a regenerative future. Only by solving trials and reflecting on the relationship with the forest can one reach the future forest city.

Animated short film about a forest in flux and our connection to its fate. From the ancient past to a regenerative future, our relationship meanders between seeing the forest as a sacred being, to viewing it as a dark and dangerous place, thereafter
treating it as a mere resource, and eventually uncovering a newfound kinship with the forest. The Trailer to the Future introduces the Entangled Forest VR artwork’s story. In the exhibition experience it serves as the first contact point with the audience.

The VR artwork takes inspiration from urban interventions like tiny forests that aim to build positive microclimates amidst the concrete jungle – speculating: What if such efforts are only the starting point of a regenerative transformation towards a future forest city? Entangled Forest VR invites the audience on a journey through time – from the ancient past to a regenerative future.
Showcasing the entangled relationships through time that create both threats and hope for the forest of the future, the artwork takes inspiration from virtual escape game mechanics. It invites the audience to immerse themselves in multiple levels of riddles and puzzles that nudge them to explore the environment. The entire story can only be experienced by solving the trials of the forest.
